The fall of the hospitality industry!
- The Lunch Writer
The very first word that strikes my mind when someone asks me, "where are you planning to stay?", with no doubt it is "Air BnB". From the times of parking at a friend or relative's place for an accommodation, to selecting the hotel rooms based on your luxurious needs, hospitality industry flourished.

With lockdown the travel industry has come to a standstill and so are the hotels at major loss. The Hospitality industry, right from Taj hotels to club Mahindra resorts, Lalit, or Oyo, everything appears just the same for us. The differentiation of the hotels based on the elite class groups have been opened to all classes either to be converted as a quarantine rooms Or a place of accommodation for the needy. Well that's the need of the hour. The next 2 quarters, or probably until a cure is found, those four walls of these hotel rooms will continue to remain silent. People wouldn't risk to travel or even stay at a place where they have no surety if it has been sanitized. It will definitely take time for people to regain their confidence back in staying at hotels. Thousands of jobs has been lost and a ten thousand real estate properties stay vacant.

3 months staying at home, people have started to find solace between those chaos. End of the day, we all have to live under one roof. The question remains as to when will we all get back to our resorts or farm houses. These houses were a place that had started to become a get away time too often. Most families never stayed at homes together but in these hotels spending their family time on mobile phones and social media. Apparently they were living a life for Instagram! Sadly, those fancy places and painted walls have now turned to dreams that remain far away.

The travel and hospitality industry are like twins. If one is affected, the other stays doomed too. As they say, we cannot really predict the future, we’ll need to wait and watch if these real estate properties will rise back again. Travel has started on a slow progress and for urgent travel cases. In case of urgent travel plans, people today would trust a relative/friends place for an accommodation more than that of a hotel. Believe it or not, true to reality, history started to repeat itself!
